MusicPhilosophy-Head

Music Philosophy is a weekly graphic/typographic interpretation of philosophical song quotes by designer Mico. I’m a big fan of the project. The posters are brilliant.  They look great as an iPhone desktop wallpaper. Mico invites you to download them. Below are some of my selects. Enjoy.

Solidarites International Falling Water Poster

The Water Poster awareness campaign by Solidarites International blew me away. They used a technology called Aquascript to type set messages entirely composed of falling water. The Solidarites International Water Poster seeks to warn the world about the problem of a lack of drinking water in impoverished countries. The problem kills about 8 million people annually infected by ingestion of dirty water.

Type & Optical Illusions

type-addicted-header

Type Addicted is a typography book I refer to for inspiration. The coolest thing about the book has eluded me for quite some time now. I can’t believe I’ve never notice the great optical illusion on the cover. It was brought to my attention by a co-worker. Up close the cover is an unassuming pattern of triangles. When you view the Type Addicted cover from a few feet back the title of the book comes into focus. Below is a copy of the cover along with three other optical illusions that work on the same principal. Steps back a few feet and see for your self. Does anyone know the science behind them? Do you think outdoor advertising can make good use of this? As always chime in and let me know what you think.

Taylor Lane Typographic Pinup Calendar

Tylor-Lane-Type-Pinup

I came across this typographic pinup calendar by Taylor Lane a few years ago. In a recent search the images surfaced up again. Now that I have a blog I thought they were worth sharing with you. Taylor Lane of the UK put together a promotional calendar for their design work.  They used type to create portraits of centerfolds. Each month’s beauty is set from a different typeface.  All are beautifully done. It won a techniques award in the publications category from Epica (“Europe’s Premier Creative Awards”).  I’d love to now what you guys make of these. Do you have any favorites? Or do they all look like transvestites? Chime in and let me know what you think. Below are some of my selects. Enjoy.

T-magazine-Header

If you are a fan of the Times (I’m not talking about Morris Day) then this post might be for you. Over the past five years The New York Times’ T Magazine has commissioned artists and designers to create their own version of the iconic T which is the magazine’s logo. To celebrate its approaching birthday, T Magazine blog is featuring their entire cover art collection. The covers are distinctive pieces of art and with out question they are very inspirational. But do you think that they are as iconic as the Absolut Vodka ads or the M TV logo of the 80’s? Is it a case of been there done that? Chime in. I’d like to know what you think? Below some selects. Enjoy.
