Moleskine are synonymous with artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers. After buying a new one today, it occurred to me that they are part of my identity. Art and design define me and these little black notebooks are the birth place of all my ideas. Both good. And the shitty ones. It’s only fitting that I write a post about them. Did you know that Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Ernest Hemingway all used one. Below is a fascinating look at their headquarter along with a company history according to the Moleskine website.
Guerra de la Paz is the composite name of Cuban born, American artist duo Alain Guerra and Neraldo de la Paz. The two have been collaborating since 1996 to produce some amazing art. Guerra de la Paz work in sculpture, installation and photography. Their work references the politics of modern conflict and consumerism alongside symbols of faith; they often use old clothing to build their sculptures. The images below and their website are worth checking out.
HTML5 gallery has two primary aims, the first is to showcase sites that use HTML5 for markup, so that we can see how people have interpreted the specification and how they’ve implemented it. This leads me on to the secondary aim which is to help people learn about html5 and how it should be used and how to implement it. It worth the visit. HTML5 will soon be the new standard. It’s time to get familiar with what it can do.
The BP Spills Coffee viral video is worth sharing. It’s gained some real traction with 8,218,237 views. As ridiculous as the parody might be, It’s not far from reality. I’ve heard that BP has no intention of shutting down the well for fear of losing rights to the vein. I’m starting to think that’s true. I love social media. It’s put a little power back in the hands of consumers.
Music Philosophy is a weekly graphic/typographic interpretation of philosophical song quotes by designer Mico. I’m a big fan of the project. The posters are brilliant. They look great as an iPhone desktop wallpaper. Mico invites you to download them. Below are some of my selects. Enjoy.
